Sign Installation by Our Own Team of Sign Fitters
A sign is only as good as its installation. Crooked lettering, poor fixings or exposed cables spoil even the best design, and a badly fixed sign can work loose in the wind. Installation is where careful planning and experience show.
Our own team installs the signs we make in our workshop, nationwide. Where suitable, we can also install signs supplied by others after checking them on a survey.

It starts with a survey
Every installation begins with a free site survey. We measure the location, check what the wall, fascia or ground is made of, look at access for ladders, towers or powered platforms, and note any power supplies, drains, alarms or obstacles. That information decides how the sign is made and fixed, so there are no surprises on installation day.
Our guide to the sign installation process explains each stage in more detail.
Choosing the right fixings
Brick, block, render, timber, cladding, glass and steel all need different fixings. A heavy projecting sign on a soft brick wall needs a different approach from a lightweight panel on a steel frame. We choose anchors, brackets and stand-offs to suit the surface and the load, allowing for wind on larger exterior signs. Our sign fixings and substrates guide explains the main options.
Access and safety
- Ladders and podiums for low-level work.
- Mobile towers for fascias and first-floor signs.
- Powered access platforms for high-level building signs.
- Barriers and pavement protection to keep the public safe below.
- Electrical connections for illuminated signs, made safely and neatly.
Removing old signs
Most new signs replace something. We can take down the old sign, disconnect any electrics, dispose of the materials and prepare the surface before the new sign goes up, all in one visit where possible. That avoids having a bare frontage for days between two separate jobs.
Installing signs supplied by others
Sometimes a sign has been bought elsewhere, supplied by a head office or made by a brand's own supplier. We can install these where suitable, but we will want to see the sign and its fixing details first, check it is safe to fix to your building and agree in advance what we can take responsibility for.
Working around your business
Shops, offices and sites need to keep running. We plan installation times around opening hours, deliveries and busy periods, and keep the work area tidy. If a sign needs advertisement consent, we make sure it is in place before fitting.
Illuminated signs and electrics
Lit signs need a safe power supply, usually from a switched fused spur close to the sign, with a timer if the sign should switch off overnight. We check on the survey whether a suitable supply already exists. Cables are routed neatly through the fascia, wall or sign body so nothing is left trailing, and LED power supplies are placed where they can be reached for future maintenance. After fitting, the sign is tested and the timer set, and we show you how it works. If an electrician is needed for a new supply, we let you know before installation so it can be ready in time.

Do you install signs you did not make?
Yes, where suitable. We check the sign and its fixings first so we can confirm it can be safely installed on your building.
Can you remove the old sign at the same time?
Yes. We can remove and dispose of the old sign and prepare the surface before fitting the new one, usually in the same visit.
Do you work outside opening hours?
