PVC Banners and Mesh Banners
PVC banners are one of the fastest ways to put a large, bold message on a building, fence or scaffold. They are printed in full colour, finished to hang securely and can be rolled up and reused. Shops use them for openings and sales, venues for events, and contractors on site fences and scaffolding.

Sizing and placing a banner
Banners are read from further away than most people expect, so lettering should be large and the message short: the business name, the offer or event, and perhaps a phone number or website. Bold colours with strong contrast stay readable at a distance and in poor light. We set out the artwork at the true size of the banner so nothing important falls into a hem or behind a fixing.
Before ordering, measure the space and note what the banner will be fixed to: railings, a wall, Heras fencing or scaffold tube. That decides the number and position of eyelets and whether pole pockets are needed. Tight, even tension stops a banner flapping, which is what usually causes tearing. If you plan to reuse a banner, roll it rather than folding it, print side out, and store it dry, so it is ready for the next event or season.
PVC or mesh
Solid PVC banners give the brightest, most opaque print and suit walls, railings and sheltered positions. Mesh banners are perforated with thousands of small holes that let the wind pass through, so they put far less load on scaffolding and fences in exposed locations, at the cost of a slightly less solid image up close.
Hems, eyelets and fixings
- Hemmed edges to strengthen the banner and stop tearing.
- Eyelets placed around the edge for cable ties or bungees.
- Pole pockets for hanging from poles or frames.
- Wind slits on solid PVC where airflow is needed but mesh is not suitable.
Scaffold and construction banners
Large banners on scaffolding wrap a building project in branding, hide works in progress and show the developer or contractor's details. For these we normally recommend mesh and plan the fixing points with the scaffold contractor. For solid site hoardings that need longer-term graphics, rigid hoarding panels are often better.
Temporary or long-term
A banner is best thought of as a temporary sign: ideal for weeks or months, an event or a project phase. If you need something to stay up permanently, we would usually suggest a rigid panel or a flexface system, which are designed for long-term outdoor use.

PVC Banners: Questions and Answers
Mesh or PVC banner for scaffolding?
Mesh is usually the right choice for scaffolding because the wind passes through it, reducing the load on the scaffold and fixings. Solid PVC catches the wind and is better suited to sheltered positions or smaller banners.
How long does a PVC banner last outdoors?
It depends on exposure, size and how well it is fixed. Banners are designed as temporary signage for events, promotions and project phases. Fixing every eyelet securely and choosing mesh in windy positions makes the biggest difference to how long a banner stays in good condition.
