Door Signs and Room Signs for Every Building

Door signs do quiet but essential work: they tell people which room is which, where the toilets are and which doors are private. When they are designed as one set rather than bought one at a time, a building feels organised and easier to use.

We produce door and room signage sets for offices, schools, surgeries and care homes, matched to your branding and fitted by our own team.

Accessible and readable door signs

Door signs are used by everyone, including people with low vision, so readability comes first. Clear sans-serif lettering, good colour contrast between text and background, and a consistent mounting height make signs easier to find and read. Recognised pictograms for toilets, accessible facilities and stairs help visitors who do not read English or who are scanning a corridor quickly.

Position is just as important. Signs are usually fixed on the latch side of the door or on the wall beside it, so they can still be read when the door is open. For buildings that need tactile signs, raised lettering and Braille are positioned where they can be reached and touched comfortably. We can survey the building, list every door and agree the wording with you before production, so the finished set arrives complete and in order for installation.

What a door sign set includes

  • Room names and numbers for offices, classrooms and consulting rooms.
  • Toilet, accessible toilet and baby-change signs.
  • Private, staff only and no-entry signs.
  • Door plaques for directors' offices, meeting rooms and named rooms.
  • Push and pull signs for doors that need them.

One consistent system

We agree one layout, typeface, colour scheme and pictogram style, then apply it to every door. That consistency makes signs quicker to read and helps visitors trust they are following the right route. Door signs work hand in hand with corridor and directional signs, so we plan both together where a building needs them.

Materials and finishes

Acrylic gives a clean, modern finish and can be printed on the reverse for a glossy, protected surface. Brushed or anodised aluminium suits corporate and healthcare buildings. Engraved plaques give a traditional, permanent look for named rooms. Accessible signs can include raised tactile lettering and Braille.

Signs that can change with the building

Rooms get renamed and staff move. Slide-in or interchangeable insert systems let you update a room name without replacing the whole sign, which keeps the set consistent over time.

Door Signs & Room Signs: Questions and Answers

How do you fix door signs to glass doors?

On glass we usually use clear double-sided fixing tape, or a matching backing panel on the other side of the glass so the fixing cannot be seen. Vinyl lettering applied straight to the glass is another clean option for room names.

Can door signs be updated when rooms change?

Yes. Insert-style door signs have a removable panel that slides out, so you can change a room name or number without replacing the frame, and the rest of the set stays matching.
