Construction Site Signs and Site Boards
A building site changes week by week, and its signs have to keep up. Construction site signs tell workers what protective equipment is needed, guide deliveries to the right gate, warn the public and show who is building what.
We supply site signage packages for contractors and developers, alongside the hoarding graphics that often wrap the same site.

Keeping site signs current
Site signs only work if they match what is happening on the ground. As a project moves from groundworks to frame, envelope and fit-out, access routes, hazards and delivery points change, and signs that are out of date are quickly ignored. Planning a core set of permanent signs and a set of movable, phase-specific signs makes it easier to keep the site accurate.
Visibility matters on a busy site. Signs should be placed at eye level at gates, welfare cabins and the start of walkways, sized to be read from a moving vehicle where they direct traffic, and kept clean so they stay legible through winter. Main site boards give the public and visitors the information they need, including contact details for the site team. We can supply replacements and additional signs as the project progresses, matched to the original set.
Signs a site typically needs
- Site boards at the entrance with the project name, contractor details and emergency contacts.
- Safety and PPE signs: hard hats, hi-vis, safety boots and eye protection.
- Warning and prohibition signs: no unauthorised access, deep excavations, overhead work.
- Site traffic signs: delivery routes, speed limits, pedestrian walkways and banksman points.
- Developer and marketing boards showing the finished scheme.
Temporary materials that work hard
Most site signs are designed for the life of a project. Correx and lightweight boards suit short phases and moving directions; aluminium composite suits the main site board and signs that need to survive the whole build. Signs can be cable-tied to Heras fencing, screwed to hoarding or post-mounted.
Planned with the site layout
We work from the site logistics plan so traffic, pedestrian and safety signs are placed where they are needed for each phase. The site's health and safety lead decides what is required; we make and install signs to match.
Hoardings and site signs together
Hoarding graphics present the project to the street; site signs run the site behind them. Ordering both together keeps branding consistent and means one survey and one installation team for the whole perimeter.
Construction Site Signs: Questions and Answers
What signs are required on a construction site?
It depends on the site and its risks. Safety signs are needed wherever a risk cannot be controlled another way, and notifiable projects must display their project notification details. The principal contractor's construction phase plan and risk assessments should set out exactly which signs the site needs.
Can site signs be reused between projects?
Generic safety, PPE and traffic signs on durable boards can often be reused from one site to the next. Project-specific site boards and developer boards are usually made for one project, though aluminium panels can sometimes be re-covered with new graphics.
