Office Wall Graphics: Planning a Branded Workspace
7 min readAn office wall can say who you are more loudly than any reception sign. It can also look dated within a year if the graphic is chosen in a hurry. The difference is planning: which walls, what content, which material and how long it needs to stay up.
This guide deals with walls only. Glass partitions and windows have their own guide, and reception signs are covered in our office and reception guide.

Pick the walls people actually see
Start with the walls in the sightlines: the one facing the lift doors, the wall behind reception, the end of a long corridor, the back wall of a meeting room seen through glass. A graphic on a wall nobody looks at is money spent on decoration for its own sake.
Then think about what each space is for. Visitor areas carry the brand. Staff areas can carry values, history or simply colour. Meeting rooms often benefit from something calm rather than something loud.
Mural, lettering or pattern?
- Full-colour mural: a printed image covering the whole wall — photography, illustration or a large brand graphic. High impact, best on one feature wall per space.
- Cut lettering: a name, a strapline or a set of values in vinyl letters. Clean and understated, and it leaves the wall colour to do some of the work.
- Pattern or texture: a repeating design that adds interest without carrying a message, useful in long corridors.
Mixing all three in one room is rarely a good idea. Pick one idea per space.
The wall surface decides the material
Smooth, sound, painted plaster takes self-adhesive vinyl well. Textured walls, fresh paint and some wallpapers are harder, and specialist wall media exists for surfaces where standard vinyl will not grip or would look wrong. Printed graphics are produced with durable, UV-resistant inks, so colours stay true under office lighting and daylight.
Newly painted walls need time to cure before any graphic is applied. If a refurbishment is under way, schedule the graphics last.
Removable or permanent
Removable and permanent adhesives are both available. If you lease the office, or if the content will change — a campaign, a team structure, an event — a removable adhesive makes taking it down later far less painful. For a brand wall you expect to keep for years, permanent is fine.
Content that ages well
Graphics built around a date, a headcount or a product line date quickly. Graphics built around the brand, the place or the purpose last. If you want to include something that changes, give it its own panel so it can be swapped without redoing the wall.
Check the artwork at full size. A photo that looks sharp on a laptop can fall apart when it is three metres wide, which is why we check image resolution before print.
Preparing for fitting day
Clear furniture from the walls, make sure the surface is clean and dry, and tell the fitting team about any access restrictions. Our fitters install printed graphics as part of the service, and on a busy office floor it often makes sense to fit early or out of hours.
Floors, doors and the rest of the office
Wall graphics rarely work alone. The same printed media can carry the brand onto floor graphics with floor-safe non-slip finishes, onto doors, and onto the glass of meeting rooms. Frosted vinyl on partitions, for instance, can pick up a pattern from a feature wall and bring privacy at the same time.
Planning these together means colours match across different materials and the whole floor feels designed rather than decorated. It also means one survey, one set of proofs and one fitting visit, which keeps disruption to a minimum on a working office floor.
Common questions
Can wall graphics be removed without damaging paint?
Removable adhesives are designed for exactly that. Results depend on the paint underneath, so tell us if clean removal matters.
Can you print our own photography?
Yes, provided the files are high enough resolution for the size. We check before printing.
Do graphics work on textured walls?
Specialist wall media is available for surfaces where standard vinyl is not suitable.
Do you design the graphics too?
Yes. Our in-house designers can create the artwork from your brand guidelines or a brief.
